North Lawrence Career Center

Providing Pathways to Success

Our North Lawrence Career Center staff spotlight this week is Brad Holmes. Holmes teaches Introduction to Trades, Introduction to Transportation, and Ag Power here at NLCC. These classes are a great opportunity for students to get some exposure to a Career Center class as a freshman or sophomore before enrolling in a year long program.
This is year twenty-two for Mr. Holmes at the Career Center, and year thirty-one with experience in his field. Before becoming a teacher at NLCC, Holmes spent his time primarily in automotive painting. Holmes, who is a former Career Center student in the Auto Body program, brings a wealth of knowledge to his hometown school and students. In his free time, Holmes enjoys camping and being outdoors. He enjoys doing these things with his family and friends. According to Holmes, his biggest hobby is anything related to classic cars.
Being a Career Center teacher is very important to Mr. Holmes, saying “Seeing the students learn new things that they maybe did not know they were capable of is very rewarding. The Career Center staff and the students make this a very great place to work.” Holmes enjoys the idea that his classes and guidance can act as a stepping stone for students to the next class at the Career Center. “My classes help prepare students for the class they desire to pursue in the future. They also get an idea of the level of work and knowledge that each program requires.” Mr. Holmes’ classroom and shop area is located in Building A of the North Lawrence Career Center.
