Degrees and Certifications:
Mrs. Brittany Chastain
Where are you from and where did you go to school/attend college? I graduated from BNL and went to WGU to obtain my Elementary Education Degree. I am currently attending WGU for my Master’s Degree.
What do you love most about working with elementary children? What I love most about working with elementary children is their willingness to learn something new. Most elementary students haven’t quite gotten the “I know it all” attitude yet, so it is fun to be that person to show them a new strategy or method to solving a problem.
Tell us a little about your family. I am married with three kids, two dogs and a guinea pig (my daughter would be upset if I didn’t include the guinea pig). My husband and I have been married for 12 years. He is a firefighter for the City of Bedford. My oldest daughter, Bella, is in fourth grade and my youngest daughter, Charlee, is in first grade. We welcomed my son, Will, in July 2021. I decided in my late 20’s to go back to school to get my teaching degree and I am so happy that I did!
What do you enjoy doing outside of school/work? Outside of school, I enjoy binge watching Netflix series. I enjoy spending time with my family playing games. When I have time, I also like to do crafts on my Cricut.
What is your favorite thing about being a Farmer? My favorite thing about being a Farmer is the people! The students, the families of my students and the staff at Shawswick. Everyone was so welcoming when I came onboard to Shawswick and they continue to be supportive and helpful.
Tell us a fun fact about yourself! More of an interesting fact rather than a fun fact about me is that I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes when I was 12 years old.
