• The North Lawrence Career Center is located in the scenic hills east of Bedford on the same campus as the Bedford North Lawrence High School. The school serves six school districts in the North Lawrence area. Bedford North Lawrence, Brownstown, Medora, Mitchell, Orleans, and Shoals combine to create Career Center Area 40.Students from all Area 40 schools are eligible to attend and take advantage of any of the Career Center programs. These students attend the Career Center for three hours per day and take their required academic classes at their home school. There is no charge for students to attend; however, book rental, some special clothing, and supplies are required in most programs.The North Lawrence Career Center plays a significant role in increasing the employability of area residents. Students benefit from the quality Career Center programs offered and the chance of advanced career and technical education with dual college credits, certifications, and work-based learning opportunities.MissionThe mission of the North Lawrence Career Center is to prepare students for a lifetime of learning and earning by helping them to mature and develop skills and attitudes necessary for a meaningful and purposeful life.VisionThe vision of the North Lawrence Career Center is:- To provide practical, functional, educational programs;- To give purpose and meaning to occupational as well as academic instruction;- To help the student to mature and develop with skills needed for a purposeful and meaningful life after graduation;- To provide instructional programs for the training of occupational skills and related knowledge that is relative to the technologies presently needed in the workplace;- To utilize members of business and industry in program planning, curriculum development, placement and follow-up of completers, in-service of teachers, and public relations necessary for viable and responsible Career Center programs;- To prepare students to be diligent in their work to accept responsibilities of adulthood, to create and produce as well as consume, and to develop social and civic responsibilities as citizens of our community, our state, and our nation.
