From the School Nurses
During the winter months, sometimes there is an increase in the number of medications being sent to school. Please check with your child’s doctor when a medication is ordered to see if it can be given to your child at home, rather than during school hours (medications ordered once, twice or three times a day can usually be given at home; your doctor or pharmacist can advise on times). As outlined in your child's student handbook, all medications must be in the original container, be age-appropriate, with label intact and show current expiration dates (expired medications cannot be given at school). All prescription medications require a physician's order/pharmacy label stating dosage and hours to be given. All medication which is to be given at school must be accompanied by a parent permission form. Permission forms are available in the school office. NLCS Medication Policy does not permit medications to be sent home with students. Parents/guardians must pick up any medication needed at home.
Absence Reminder
Parents/Guardians please remember that it is important that you call the school in the morning on days your child will be absent.
Security
Please note: North doors will be locked for security purposes. If you need to drop a child off after 8:00 a.m., please use the front entrance.
Title I News
Springville Elementary is a school-wide assistance school in the Title I program. This means that Title I Instructional Assistants are able to work with any of the students enrolled in Springville School. Title I Instructional Aides work closely with classroom teachers on reading skills including vocabulary, spelling, and phonics. Students that take part in the Sidewalks program also work with title I Instructional Aides. Periodic progress reports will also be issued. Detailed records are kept that include samples of student skill sheets and periodic assessments of student progress. Literature on helping your child with math, reading, and writing skills is available through Springville’s parent Involvement Coordinator, Gay Lawton. Please visit the NLCS website for more information on the Title I program.
