Mrs. Conover's Class

 Welcome to our class!
We are studying a lot of interesting things this year!

The theme for our class this year is Unraveling the Mystery of Fourth Grade.  We will be focusing on discovering the world around us. In Science we will continue to build on topics that were covered in fourth grade.  In Social Studies we will be moving out of Indiana and learning about the United States.  We have already discussed the regions of the United States.  See if your child can name the region we live in.

I divided the curriculum into four sections.  We will cover one section each nine weeks.

Here is a look at our sections

  •   Means, Motive, and Opportunity  (1st nine weeks)
  •   The Plot Thickens  (2nd nine weeks)
  •   Putting All the Pieces Together  (3rd nine weeks)
  •   Getting Ready For the Next Great Mystery, 6th grade (4th nine weeks)

If you wish to see a copy of our theme ask you child.  He or she should have a copy of it in their morning work folder.

Some important information you will need to help you child have a successful year!

  • Assignments are due the next school day.  Any assignment not completed at school becomes homework.  Students can bring home any assignment to be checked over as long as it is returned and turned in at the beginning of the next school day.
  •  We fill out agendas each day.  Homework should be listed in there.  I will check them each day.  Please feel free to write notes or questions in the agendas.  We use them daily
  • Spelling tests are on Wednesday and Friday.  Students that do not get a 100% on Wednesdays test will have a second opportunity to try for one on Friday.  Spelling words can be found in the agenda for that week if the book is left at home. STUDY!!  STUDY!!  STUDY!!!
  • Math homework will be returned to the students and they can correct the ones they missed.  If they turn it back in corrected that new corrected grade will be the one in the grade book.  Please encourage your child to correct his or her math.  The math series builds on each lesson.  If he or she does not understand a concept they will continue to miss problems.  Please encourage them to bring home their lesson and let you see how they are doing and to ask questions in class.  Corrections are the key to an A+ in Math!
  • Study guides will be given for Social Studies and Science tests.  Please look over these study guides with your child to help him learn the material.

I am looking forward to another great year with your children!  Please feel free to contact me if there are any questions and concerns.  Call the school (extension 215), e-mail, or notes in agendas are always welcome.  I am here to help your child have a successful school year!  Working together with you I am sure we can achieve that goal!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Conover
