Characteristics: Lions are the only large cats that live in large extended families. These families are called prides. Each pride has several dozen members that usually consist of one dominant adult male lion, several females, cubs and many young males.
The female lions take care of the cubs and lions rest or sleep up to 20 hours each day.

Habitat:Lions are well camouflaged in the tall golden grasses of the grasslands. Common throughout central Africa, lions are in danger of extinction in India.

Diet:Lions stalk and kill as a group and through cooperation kill zebras and wildebeasts.The female lions hunt for most of the food. Only lions dare to hunt the giraffe. Lions hunt at night and are a major factor in controlling the populations of grazing animals on the African savanna.
