COME  BACKPACKING  

            THROUGH FIRST GRADE WITH

Mrs. Floerke

    Hello. I would like to welcome you and your child into my classroom. Our classroom theme is "Backpacking Through First Grade."  Under this theme, we will study about school and community helpers, families, friends, animals, insects, habitats, environment, plants, and health and safety.  Your child will be doing lots of reading and writing focused around these themes. 

    We use Saxon math and phonics programs also. 

    Your child will have math homework Monday-Thursday as well as reading a couple times a week.  For the reading homework, simply read the book that is sent home with your child and sign the green reading slip. 

    If you ever have questions about homework or spelling words, you may call the homework hotline at 812-275-4821 and press the extension for Mrs. Floerke.

    Parents are the most important people in a child's life. We need to work together for the benefit of your child. With school and home working together, I know that each and every student will have a successful year.
