Radio and Television Production is a one year course designed to
prepare students for a career in broadcasting.  News gathering and
reporting, radio production, public speaking, story development, and
script writing are just some of the skills learned in this two hour course.   Students will generate programming from school and community events.  Students will also be responsible for the production of a weekly newscast, called Friday Update, to be aired on Insight Cablevision, Star Television channel 21.

Radio/TV Broadcasting/Telecommunications should provide instruction to develop and enhance competencies in various communication, marketing, media, production, and technical functions and tasks performed by employees, including management personnel, in radio/TV broadcasting and telecommunications occupations.  Emphasis should be placed on career opportunities, production, programming, announcing, broadcast equipment operation, news and sports casting, broadcast regulations and laws, station organization, technical, and oral and written communication, and listening skills.  Instructional strategies may include a school-based enterprise, real and simulated occupational experiences, such as the operation of an in-school radio, television, telecommunications, or distance learning studio, job shadowing, field trips, and internships.
