EXPLORATORY CADET TEACHING
900 Semester One
902 Semester Two
Grade Level: 11-12 Term: One Semester or All Year (1 credit per semester, four semesters maximum)
Students in good academic standing (with at least a 2.5 GPA) will be assigned to a teacher in elementary or junior high school to work in a classroom situation. Students will attend a minimum of one hour and 15 minutes daily and will furnish transportation. The purpose of the class is to discover whether teaching may be a desirable career for the student. Grades issued by the supervising teacher are based on cooperation, attitude, attendance and duties performed. Enrollment for cadet teaching is limited. Selection is based on GPA and an application process.

TEACHER/OFFICE ASSISTANT
Grade Level: 9-12 Term: One Semester (1/2 credit)
The Teacher Assistant program provides an opportunity for a student to work with a teacher, or work in a BNLHS office. Duties will vary given the needs of the teacher. Students receive a P/F grade and .5 credits each semester. For the classes of 2010 and beyond credit received will not be included in a student's graduation credits if the student is earning a Core 40 Diploma, a Core 40 Diploma with Academic Honors, or a Core 40 Diploma with Technical Honors.
Students who wish to enroll in the program should contact the teacher or office of their choice during the drop and add period of each semester. Students who have failed two or more classes the previous semester will not be approved for the program, and students may not participate as a TA more than one period of the day.
