Art Club - Open to all high school students interested in art activities. Beta Club -
Open to sophomores-seniors. Students must maintain a "B" average in all their subjects. BNL Star - Open to all students. Applications are available at the beginning of the year. Membership is limited and chosen by the sponsor and co-editors. BNL Varsity Pom Squad - Selection for the Pom squad takes place in April each year. Cheerleader - Preliminary screening of candidates is conducted by the cheer sponsors, and takes place in March or April. Chess Club - Open to all students. Dance Team - The Starsteppers, is a group of young women chosen in the spring by the sponsor. Girls will attend camp along with other instructional sessions in order to further enhance their dancing skills. DARE - DARE is a mentoring situation for younger students as well as a celebration of those high school students who choose to make good choices. Role models are ICARE Council seniors and cadet teachers. As a part of the Lawrence County DARE program, BNL DARE Role Models do presentations to fifth and eighth graders throughout the school system. This program promotes healthy, wise choices for young students, including resisting drugs, alcohol and violence…and also setting high-level personal goals in life. EPICS/Envirothon - Open to any student. Students select a service project and work to design, develop and implement the completion of the project. Future Farmers of America (FFA) - Open to anyone interested in the agriculture industry. Contact the vocational sponsors. Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) - Open to all athletes. French Club - Open to students who are currently or have been previously enrolled in French. German Club -Open to students who are currently or have been previously enrolled in German. HOSA - Any student enrolled in Health Occupations is a member. I-CARE Council - Open to all students who want to volunteer in their school, community, and at the Special Olympics. Fundraisers benefit Riley Hospital, Relay for life, the Humane Society, and Make-A-Wish. Impact Club - Open to any student. Purpose is to help students develop an understanding of different religious backgrounds. Key Club - Open to any student. 50 hours of volunteer service is required. Latin Club - Open to students who are currently or have been previously enrolled in Latin. Letterman's Club - Open to student athletes who have earned a letter in a sport. Math Club - Open to any student currently enrolled in a math class. National Honor Society - Candidates must have spent atleast one semester in Bedford North Lawrence High School and fulfill the following: be a junior or senior in good standing; have a high school GPA of 3.5 or better; fill out an interest sheet application; have a minimum of five faculty members evaluate them in four areas and receive a score of 3.0 (out of 4) average in each area. Renaissance - Students wishing to become Renaissance Committee Members are required to submit an application which includes a written essay and teacher recommendations. Students devote their study hall or lunch periods to preparing envelopes and materials needed for Renaissance incentives. Pep Club - S.A.L.T (Student Athlete Leadership Team) - Includes one representative from each sport (10 boys & 10 girls). The goal of the group is to get input from student athletes about ways to improve athletics and to teach the athletes about the scope of what goes on in the athletic department. Scarlet & Purple Drama Club - Open to all students. Science Club - Open to all students. Spanish Club - Open to students who are currently or have been previously enrolled in Spanish. StarStrong - Open to all students. Raises funds to help fight cancer and for cancer research. Star System (Color Guard) - Flag and Dance unit is associated with the BNL Marching Band. Screening and selection process occurs in mid-April. Interested students may contact the Director of Bands. Star Television - Open to students enrolled in Telecommunications 1 or 2. Student Council - Members complete petitions to run and are elected by their peers. Students must maintain a GPA of 2.5 or better and have not been suspended. Elections for sophomore-senior representatives take place in the spring, while incoming freshman are elected during the fall. Teens for Kids First - Open to all students. The purpose is to promote awareness about the prevention of Child Abuse. Members can volunteer to be puppeteers. Yearbook (Reflections) - Students must apply and be enrolled in the class. |
